Who we are
www.georgeathanas.com presents the work of George Athanas, a composer, music producer, performer and educator based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The website is owned by Gemini Active LLC FZ (“we”, “us”), the data controller responsible for the personal data processed through it. This policy explains what information the website collects, why it is collected and the choices you have.
Information you choose to send us
Contact form. When you use the contact form, we receive your first and last name, your email address, your message and, if you choose one, the type of enquiry. The form also sends technical details used only to block spam: a hidden field that people leave empty, the time taken to complete the form and the page it was sent from. Your message is delivered by email to contact@georgeathanas.com. It is not published or added to any mailing list, and your email address is used to reply to you.
Email and WhatsApp. If you write to us directly by email or WhatsApp, we receive the information your message contains. Messages sent through WhatsApp are also subject to WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
Newsletter. When you subscribe to Notes from George, we collect your email address and your explicit consent to receive news and marketing updates. This information is sent securely to contact@georgeathanas.com and retained only for managing and sending these communications. We do not sell your email address. You may withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions provided in our messages or by contacting us.
Information collected automatically
Server logs. As with any website, our hosting provider’s servers record technical information when pages are requested — such as the IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request — in order to deliver the website and keep it secure.
Spam protection. To prevent abuse of the contact form, the server keeps a short-lived record that limits how many messages can be sent from one connection. It stores a one-way coded value derived from the IP address — never the IP address itself — and removes it after one hour.
No analytics or advertising tracking. The website does not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking tools, and it does not set cookies of its own.
Language preference. If you use the language button, your choice of English or Arabic is saved in your browser’s local storage so that the matching homepage opens on your next visit. It stays on your device, is never sent to us and can be removed by clearing this website’s data in your browser.
Embedded and linked platforms
Music videos and interviews are played from YouTube. A YouTube player loads only after you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com); once it has loaded, YouTube may collect information under Google’s privacy policy. On some pages, video preview images are loaded directly from YouTube’s image servers.
Links to Spotify, Apple Music, Anghami, Deezer, SoundCloud, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, IMDb, SoundBetter and WhatsApp take you to services we do not control; their own privacy policies apply when you visit them. Course purchases, when available, take place on the Gemini Active website under its own terms and privacy policy.
How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- reply to your enquiry and continue a conversation you started;
- consider and arrange the professional work, collaborations, lessons or courses you ask about;
- run the website, keep it secure and prevent spam and abuse;
- meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising or share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Who receives it
Your information is handled by George Athanas and Gemini Active LLC FZ. It is processed by the service providers needed to run the website and deliver email — currently our hosting and email provider — only on our behalf. We may disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, anyone’s safety or the security of the website.
International visitors
The website is visited from many countries, in English and Arabic. Information you send is processed in the United Arab Emirates and by our service providers, whose servers may be located in other countries. Where data is processed in another country, we take reasonable steps to protect it in line with this policy.
How long we keep information
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to respond and to manage any professional relationship that follows, and are then deleted when no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. Spam-protection records are deleted after one hour; server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own settings.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and keeping mail settings outside the public website. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, and you can object to its use. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under the data-protection law that applies to you, such as the UAE Personal Data Protection Law or the EU General Data Protection Regulation. To make a request, email contact@georgeathanas.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
Children
This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us so that we can delete it.
